Wordsmith - Half Bar, Half Amazing

This Wordsmith track is gritty sexy. The flow is ill, and Strada's production is reminiscent of of a 90's Wu Tang track in terms of the instrumentation. Me likeee. We dropped another Wordsmith joint on you a few weeks ago HERE, so check it out.
What Wordsmith Music had to say; "Here is the 3rd leak entitled "Half Bar, Half Amazing" produced by Strada from Wordsmith's upcoming August / September project "The Overdue & Underrated" mixtape. With his collaborative project with Chubb Rock being pushed back to August 2009 for its in-store release. Wordsmith wants to continue to give his fans quality music to fill some of the void."

Wordsmith's Vintage Experience album is now available on iTunes and Amazon.Com. Broken up into 4 chapters with unique movie scores; the album plays out like a Movie on Wax. Featuring the singles Hook-up Hotline, Tour Guide to New Bride and As the Art Fades Away, the material in general, ranges from songs Wordsmith wrote/recorded from 2006 to 2009.

Most of the production came from his in-house producers Strada, Professa, Capish, Street Level with outside help from Rednaz Beats. Chubb Rock + Wordsmith - Ol Skool Flava

The old emcees have been poppin up out of nowhere lately: Grand Puba, Kurious, Rakim is back... and now The Chubbster! He has a new album in stores, Bridging the Gap and largely it makes you miss Hitman Howie T because his beats were enough to make you overlook some of Chubb's "not as good" rhymes. There's one track on Bridging the Gap though, Old School Flava, that finds Chubb reminiscing over The Jones Girls - Nights Over Egypt that's really nice...or do I just love Nights Over Egypt?

Soulstice - Birds Eye View feat Kev Brown

Soulstice's new album, Beyond Borders, will be released in June 2009 and will feature appearances from G.L.C., Oddisee, Kev Brown, Supastition, Wordsmith and Zap Mama and is entirely produced by SBe. Soulstice sez, "I'm from Chicago, but I've lived in the DC area for several years. Living in DC, you're so close to the politics and decision-making, but you're no more able to affect what happens than anyone else. It raises your awareness, but also increases your level of frustration at times. Conceptually, this song is an important piece of the Beyond Borders project because sometimes the best way to impact the world is to take a look at closer look at the way we do things here. I wrote the line about needing a Black president well before Obama was elected and I'm happy to see that prophecy fulfilled. Kev Brown, one of Maryland's finest rhymers and beatsmiths, joins me on this one...we actually recorded this joint at Kev's house."

Crown City Rockers - Astroshocks

Crown City Rockers emcee Raashan Ahmad has an incredibly smooth delivery for a wordsmith with such tongue twisting rhymes. Listening to Astroshocks percolating beat, it's easy to miss the fact that he's throwing couplets like
"Good grief! Gallivantin' gallopin' throwin' up javelins / travelin' that again?
That'll blend magic and miracle" like it's nothing. Also remarkable is the fact that this intricate track is comprised of all live instruments... Drummer Max MacVeety lays down a foundation to make any drum machine short circuit with jealousy, while keyboard virtuoso Kat Ouano takes us to outerspace on a collection of 70s analog synthesizers. The band's first album in 5 years, The Day After Forever, drops September 29th on Gold Dust.

Soulstice - Unfold featuring Oddisse

After releasing North By Northwest (2005) and Dead Letter Perfect in 2007 (which have earned SoulStice features XXL Magazine, The Source, The Tavis Smiley Show, Urb and many key urban publications and websites), SoulStice returns with Beyond Borders, which SoulStice dubs an “international concept album.” As SoulStice explains “the project is a collaboration between myself and Belgian beatmaker, SBe, who provides all of the instrumental music for the album. As far as the vocals, the songs are collaborations between myself and many of my favorite artists from around the world. These songs and the ideas they contain were the result of studio sessions in Maryland, Belgium, Chicago, Paris, New York and many other places, late nights at SBe's house in Ghent, photo sessions, international phone calls and text messages, and long flights overseas to perform in Europe, Japan and Mexico.” Beyond Borders will be released in June 2009 and will feature appearances from G.L.C., Oddisee, Kev Brown, Supastition, Wordsmith and Zap Mama and is entirely produced by SBe.
