Michael Olatuja featuring Lynden David Hall - Ma Foya (The Remixes)

Ma Foya, the first single from British/Nigerian bassist Michael Olatuja’s award-winning album Speak features vocals by the late, great Lynden David Hall. With lyrics in both Yoruba and English, intense African rhythms, and an assortment of remixes from such notable studio impresarios as John Morales, Duce Martinez and Jason Michael Webb of the SubUrban remix team, this track encompasses the essence of Olatuja’s artistic vision. Each remixer applies his own creative brush strokes while keeping the focus on the soul, groove and deep spirituality that lie at the heart of the song.

Ras G has been a staple LA producer for years now, part of Flying Lotus's Brainfeeder crew, while also working with the folks at Poo-Bah Records. Clutchy Hopkins - The Storyteller

Clutchy Hopkins' The Storyteller is an album influenced by Hopkins time in jail, where, while in the courtyard, he met many international prisoners waiting to be deported. Lo-fi, acoustic, finger- snapping, hand-clapping, whistle-and-hummed jam sessions gave Hopkins the ideas which he later put to tape. The album booklet will include the entire story, unfiltered. Wow!

Daru Jones + Kissey Asplund 'So Good' EP

If you know me, then you know my unyielding and longtime Urkel like crush for Kissey Asplund. And not only because she's fine as May wine in the summertime (lame I know) but her talent is undeniable. Her unique voice and style is unlike anything I've heard before, and the way she flows effortlessly on the most unconventional of tracks is amazing. This time she linked up with equally talented producer Daru Jones, lending her voice to uptempo hip-hop influenced beats, and the combination definitely works. Daru's soulful hip-hop beats and Kissey's soft spoken singing style blend together seamlessly. I especially like the Mobb Deep flip on 'Sweetest Day,' the sample of 'Temperatures Rising' is dope, and Kissey's voice makes you instantly groove along to the music. This collaboration could turn out to be quite fruitful, I can't wait to hear more from the unofficial duo. You can download the project for the free from Daru's BandCamp. Leave us a Love Note and let us know what you think and better yet. Drop Daru and Kissey a line directly on the Twitter and tell them yourself.

BusCrates 16-Bit Ensemble 'Two'

When he's not busy wilin' out on Twitter, BusCrates actually makes beats, and good one's too. My good friend BusCrates blessed my inbox with these smooth grooves that upon hearing made me click the repeat on my media player. These 'Two' gems are what make BusCrates one of the most innovative and creative producer's out. I could listen to a whole album's worth of this and it would never get old. Go on over to his BandCamp site and download for the free, music this good deserves to be heard. And pay attention, this is what the future is gonna sound like.

Vivian Green - Too Intense

Vivian Green's first album, A Love Story (2002), showed a lot of promise to me of things to come. It wasn't a fantastic album, it was just ok to me. 3 yrs later she returned with Vivian, which had an entertaining video for Gotta Go, Gotta Leave but besides that, I can't recall anything but being sorely disappointed. This year she brings us Beautiful, which I purchased with much apprehension because I wasn't feeling the lead single. I don't want to say the album is bad, because it isn't, its just not for me. Here's one track from the album that I am feeling though, I'll probably spin it while I'm djing Saturday night. Have you heard the album yet? What are your thoughts?
