Vivian Green - Too Intense

Vivian Green's first album, A Love Story (2002), showed a lot of promise to me of things to come. It wasn't a fantastic album, it was just ok to me. 3 yrs later she returned with Vivian, which had an entertaining video for Gotta Go, Gotta Leave but besides that, I can't recall anything but being sorely disappointed. This year she brings us Beautiful, which I purchased with much apprehension because I wasn't feeling the lead single. I don't want to say the album is bad, because it isn't, its just not for me. Here's one track from the album that I am feeling though, I'll probably spin it while I'm djing Saturday night. Have you heard the album yet? What are your thoughts?

Anonymous said...: Unfortunately, Vivian has something not moving in her corner because with her vocal range and texture she could be a lot further along than she is. I want to think that she is not responsible for the ____ she's singing but then again that's no excuse. So many singers are not in the place of an artist who simply wants to inspire and if something comes of it, then great. The focus is more so if you can carry a tune over some loud assed beats.
