Mar sez, "I had to sing some to Dorian's “Bipolar Friendship” and we're happy he did. This feels like some Vikter Duplaix meets Spacek type isht and is way too enjoyable! What do you think?
Legendary Oakland hip-hop group Souls of Mischiefare preparing to release Montezuma's Revenge, their first album in almost a decade. The album, to be released on December 1st, was produced by the renowned Prince Paul. After a nine-year hiatus, Souls of Mischief have reassembled to create a hotly anticipated new full-length album. While they may be best known for their debut album (and its title track) 93 'til Infinity, Souls of Mischief have been producing highly regarded albums and putting on wildly popular live shows for more than fifteen years. Souls' trademark juxtaposition of complex, multi-syllabic lyricism against laid-back Cali flow remains as strong as it was in 1993. Legendarily innovative producer Prince Paul (De La Soul, Handsome Boy Modeling School, Gravediggaz) was brought onboard to take Souls' sound to a new level. While the aforementioned and unmistakable Souls of Mischief sound remains very much intact, Paul's vision and risk-taking come through on the finished product. Tajai was comfortable from the start in working with the visionary producer. "Paul is a perfectionist and so are we so we took time with the beats and subject matter." Despite the hiatus, Souls have stayed very much on their game. In fact, they believe they've stepped it up. Tajai says, "This album to me is a great insight into who we are as people and how important it is to progress stylistically, yet it retains a classic, timeless feel."
I been in the Lab working on a lot of music this past summer and fall. This year has been so productive for me with the success of my music, shows, and parties. I wanted to end the year off with some good new music. I'm not the type of artist to release music frequently with no plan or reason other than just having music out. It makes no sense too me. So since I have a lot of Music stashed up I figured I'd end the year right. From now till January I'll be putting out a lot of music produced by me. This is to Build up for my First official Instrumental Album Dropping Next year called Sonic Intercourse. Be on the look out.
This track is called Get It Up feat. Nikki NTU and produced by me. It is from a project that I worked very hard on this past summer. Take a listen and turn up the bass on ya speakers. Stay tuned for a itunes release of Nikki NTU's first EP "A History of Dreams" (Download Link) scheduled for next year spring. BLAOW!!!!"
Here is a video of Stretch Armstrong recalling the historic days of his meeting Bobbito Garcia and forming The Stetch Armstrong and Bobbito show, heralded as one of the best hip hop shows of all time. This show was undoubtedly responsible in helping breaking out hip hop’s biggest stars such as, a 16 year old Nasty Nas, Ason Unique (Old Dirty Bastard), Wu Tang Clan, Jay-Z, Biggie Smalls, Leaders of The New School and countless other legends.
Speaking of the youth, I came across these young cats, two brothers, Mikaiah Lei, 16, and Anaiah Lei, 12, also known as The Bots a couple of weeks ago and had to post it up. They're stylings are a refreshing mix of punk, ska, rock, and reggae. They’re a new favorite of the household and my children go absolutely nuts to this video *lol*. Big up to their parents for allowing and encouraging them to do their thing. Check out their website at http://thebotsband.com/
