...::Sounds Dope::..

It has come to my attention that Banana Republic has been filming documentaries on Independent Soul Musicians. City Stories is a collection of mini documentaries that fuses the inspirational elements of city life--culture, fashion and music. In these short films, an eclectic pool of talented musicians, such as Ayo, Esperanza Spalding and David Sanchez, share their unique, creative experiences through song and stories while dressed in Banana Republic’s Spring 2009 collection. You can view these HERE and HERE which include performances from the featured artists
MORE: Ayo (pictured above) released a sophmore album, Gravity, which was released March 2008. It was recorded in 5 days in a live session. I had to get a late pass, so i was just putting it out there in case others didnt know...

Amel Larrieux returns!!! It's not quite a return to Infinte Possibilities but it is definitely a departure from Lovely Standards. , Amel says, "...we’re trying something different and releasing a single a month for the next four months, maybe more. We plan on giving you a full-length album for digital and traditional release, later this year. As you may or may not have heard, the first release will be the song, orange glow, on Tuesday, march 3rd, digital release only. Please be aware of how grateful and thankful we are to those of you who have consistently supported us on this independent journey." Check it out HERE. If you dig it, pick it up on iTunes for .99

DJ DviousMindZ returns with an album of 9 instrumentals that he would've given Godlee Barnes. Get DJ DviousMindZ Presents - Beats I Would'e Gave Blu HERE

This installation of Dope sounds was great! It led me to listen to old Amel stuff. Love Ayo's work, been digging her since last year and she never disappoints. That whole Banana Republic thing is pretty cool...
