Black Man's Cry: The Inspiration Of Fela Kuti (Vinyl/CD + Book)

Stones Throw Label co-founder Egon has released one of the latest tributes honoring Fela's legacy, Black Man's Cry: The Inspiration Of Fela Kuti on ST's sister label, Now and Again Records. This long awaited compilation features unreleased, heavy afro funk from Nigeria, Ghana, Germany, US, Trinidad, and Columbia, all recorded in the 1970's plus a couple of modern day tracks to balance things out. Just when you thought that was it, you have a choice of purchasing a beautifully packaged box of 4 x 10" vinyl or cd along with a book of liner notes and inspirations behind the music within. Ever heard Trinidadian afrobeat with bangin' steel drums? It's all here (and then some). Recommended.
Check out the single Woman Pin Down by Nigeria's Dan Satch and his Atomic 8 Dance Band on Now and Again's site here.
