Mavericks: Gilles Peterson

If you've read any of my previous posts, you'll know that I keep an eye on Gilles Peterson, every now and then at least. Check this clip of a 19ish/early twenties, pirate deejaying GP, with partner in "crime" Chris Philips, as they briefly speak on the enthusiasm of young deejays spinning jazz via pirate radio vs. mainstream jazz deejays.

Its funny how this dude didn't even care that he was 1. on camera, and 2. telling folks (and the authorities) on the air exactly what club and what time he was going to be playing..

I guess his story is similar to the film Catch Me If You Can, where Leonardo finally gets caught but ends up working with the very people that caught him..but in a good way.
