Pseudo Slang - Walkin'
Pseudo Slang's new track "Walkin'" feat. Grap Luva is placed right in the middle of their new album We'll Keep Looking for a reason: they want it to be one of the cornerstones of the project. The Buffalo-based duo of Emcee Sick and producer Tone Atlas use this track to give praise to the jazz-tinged side of their many influences. The lyrics are a mission statement - citing their favorite jazz aesthetics (which, conveniently, Atlas uses in synch) while laying down the reasons they were meant to be "reinstatin', invigoratin', integratin', DJ fadin'" music via their brand of hip-hop. They utilize a jazz standard walking bass line from samples and bump it to a simmering shuffle drumbeat. Top this off with the occasional piano trill, horn lick, or guitar riff and suddenly you are "walkin' back to ill tracks."
